Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum has ribosomes on it whereas smooth endoplasmic reticulum doesn't have..
Rough endoplasmic reticulum is found mainly near the nucleus whereas the smooth endoplasmic reticulum is near the cell membrane..
Smooth endoplasmic reticulum is mainly formed of tubules whereas rough endoplasmic reticulum is made up of cisternae

hey friend,

rough endoplasmic reticulum:-
1) endoplasmic reticulum bearing ribosomes on their surface are known as rough endoplasmic reticulum  (RER).

2) they are involved in protein synthesis.

3) it transports proteins to different destinations.

smooth endoplasmc reticulum:-

1) endoplasmic reticulum that do not bear ribosomes and appears smooth are known as smooth endoplasmic reticulum.

2) site for synthesis of lipids.

3) maintains calcium ion in cystosol.

hope it helps...

saumya10: thankz
