How does sieve tube differ from companion cell?

Sieve tube members are shorter and wider with great area for nutrient transport. Its function is to sieve elements found in gymnosperms.


Whereas companion cells are specialized paranchyema cell, located in the phloem of flowering plants and closely associated with the development and function.


It is provided ATP proteins and other substances.



Sieve tubes don't have nuclei, tonoplasts and ribosomes.


Moreover, there are no sieve plates in a companion cell.
