Explanation:Sonar which is sound navigation and ranging ,uses waves to sense the location of objects in the ocean.

It send out a sound pulse from a transducer, and then measure the time it takes for the sound pulses to be reflected back to the transducer..

The distance to an object can be calculated using this time difference and the speed of sound in the water (approximately 1,500 meters per second).

And thus it's help in estimating the distance of an object ....

Hope it will be helpful to you !!!

Answer:

SONAR IS USED IN OCEANS WHILE RADAR IS USED IN SKY.

SONAR:SOUND NAVIGATION RANGING IS A TECHNIQUE USED FOR FINDING DEPTH OF SEA .

BY SEND SOUND PULSES FROM A DEVICE CALLED TRANSDUCER.

IT WORKS ON BASIC PRINCIPLE OF REFLECTION OF SOUND WAVES.

WE CAN ESTIMATE DISTANCE BY USING SIMPLE FORMULA :

d =  \frac{vt}{2}

HERE D IS DISTANCE ,V IS VELOCITY OF SOUND.
