He was described as a mid age pompous man

  • Mrs Pearson was a mother and a subservient wife. Despite her suffering, she lacked the courage to question or criticise her family.
  • As a result, she undertakes all of her family's domestic responsibilities without receiving a word of thanks.
  • Her husband was George. She described him as a man in his fifties and a decent person on the whole. But he was solemn, conceited and arrogant.
