SECULARISM MEANS NO SPECIAL STATUS IS GIVEN TO ANY RELIGION. IT IS JUST NOT AN IDEOLOGY OF SOME PARTIES OR PERSONS.

THERE IS NO OFFICIAL RELIGION FOR THE INDIAN STATES UNLIKE STATUS OF BUDDHISM IN SRI LANKA ON ISLAM IN PAKISTAN.
THE CONSTITUTION PROVIDES FREEDOM TO ALL PROTEST PRACTICE AND PROPAGATE ANY RELIGION OR NOT TO FOLLOW ANY.

THE CONSTITUTION PROHIBITS DISCRIMINATION ON GROUNDS OF RELIGION.

THE CONSTITUTION ALLOWS STATE TO INTERVENE IN THE MATTERS OF RELIGION IN ORDER TO ENSURE EQUALITY WITHIN RELIGION COMMUNITIES . FOR EXAMPLE IT BANS UNTOUCHABILITY.

The Constitution of India ensures secularism. In its Preamble, it has mentioned India to be a secular state and hence doesn't consider any particular religion as the state religion and grants equal status to all religions.

The Constitution provides the freedom to its people to practice, profess and propagate any religion, or not to follow any at all.
It also prohibits discrimination on the religious grounds and provides equal rights to all religions.
At the same time it allows the state to intervene in matters of any religion to protect the rights of equality among the religion.
