The velocity of Mars is 24.07 km/s, while Venus moves much faster at 35.02 km/s. The reason is that the velocity depends on the gravitational acceleration imparted on the planet by the sun, and the further away from the sun the planet is, the lower the gravitational attraction, and thus the slower its velocity. Therefore, the fastest planet is Mercury at 47.87 km/s, and the slowest is Neptune at 5.43 km/s, almost 9 times slower. And, of course, Earth’s is between that of Venus and Mars, at 29.78 km/s.
