by water cycle the water from pond, lakes etc. evaporates and goes to clouds when a large amount of water is stored in clouds and they become black and cover the area and then lighting forms

Lightning is nothing but an electric spark on a large scale that is caused by the accumulation of charges in the clouds.When a large amount of charges get accumulated inside the cloud .As a result an electric discharge takes place between two clouds carrying opposite charges or between a charged cloud and the ground.This produces streaks of bright light which we see in the form of lightning.
