In a concave mirror, the location of the image can significantly affect the characteristics of the image formed. When the object is placed at infinity, the image formed at the Focus, F, is very small and real. As the object moves towards F and lies between the C and F, the images becomes inverted and magnified. When the object is placed between F and V, the image becomes virtual, magnified and upright.

However, when the object is placed in front of the convex mirror, the image formed is always virtual, diminished and erect.
