Dear Rajib,
It has been ages since you have visited us. Grandmother keeps talking about you and Uncle and Aunt. Do visit us, but I must warn you that you are going to be in for a nasty shock. Our beautiful village is no longer the fairy tale village it used to be.
There has been a sea change in our village thanks to the greed and mechanisation of Man. First and foremost the lush green paddy fields no longer exist as the by-pass for the National Highway has done away with all the fields to build the Highways. The beautiful trees have all been cut mercilessly as multi-storeyed buildings are being constructed in their places. Worse is the invasion of city culture. Instead of our personal shops big malls and shopping complexes are being set up. Our village is fast losing its natural beauty.
I better end here as I have to prepare for school. Do try to come. Write to me about your latest activities. Convey my regards to Uncle and Aunt.
