Metal are elements which lose electrons to gain positive charge..The metallic character decreases as we go from left to right in a period as the tendency to lose electrons decreases as the valence electrons increase..
Non metals are elements which gain electrons to acquire a negative charge..As we go from left to right in a period the non metaic character increases as the tendency to gain electrons increases due to the increase in the valence electrons..
I hope this helps...

Answer:

The metallic character decreases as we move left to right and non-metallic character increases as we move from left to right.

Explanation:

Because,as we move left the tendency to lose electrons decreases and thus metallic character decreases from left to right and non-metallic character increases from left to right along a period
