the poet james kirrup through this poem wants to promote the concept of universal brotherhood through this poem , the poet says all men are same

every soldiers of different countries wear different clothes but the person behind the clothes are same , the person behind all the clothes are created by god , they breathe like us , the people of different countries whom we think as our enemy , they have eyes like us , everyone gets the bounties of nature like sunshine , land etc in equal measure , every person eats and dies in the same way like us , their trades are also same
