The poet says during winter the sparrow clings close and gets emotionally attached to us just like our real friend does.  The poet compares new, mean friends with swallow saying that swallow leaves the poet in the winter season in search of warm and cozy weather as he doesn't want to share the sorrow of the poet but sparrows stay together no matter what happens.
