The poet conveys her anguish by praying for her fellow soldiers in war, hoping that the bodies that come back to their motherland be breathing and blood-free. she weeps and is grieved beyond measure as she sees hundreds of her brothers die on the battleground, to be forgotten and their blood be splattered on the defeated enemies’ hands - and their victory flags held by the British who were sipping tea ( jk I couldn’t help myself) while being called “heroes” whereas the real indian heroes of war die unnamed and not even been given a proper burial or memorial .
