In the poem 'The Photograph , the poet is seen to have held the photograph of her mother in her hands and seeing it she exclamates, that seeing the photograph her mother missed her childhood whereas the daughter seeing the picture makes her miss her mother which is no more by her side. The poet is very much sad of her mother's absence and wishes that she could return back the time.

The poet remembers with sadness her mother's laughter which she cannot hear anymore. The poet is full of a sense of loss and does not mention about her mother's death as it may bring more gloom to her and make her speechless.
