The poet was actually feeling sad while lying on the old dentist chair. Her attitude  over the treatment was not good. This is because she have to go through the pain due to the injections as well as the drilling. So she was felt sad and was wishing that she should not have eaten any sweet  when the teeth was not too much damaged and was alright. All this  feeling makes the poet like a helpless  person but she realized that it was all her mistake only .
