Answer:

Many readers have interpreted Angelou's poem as an extended metaphor with the caged bird representing the historical struggles of African Americans. The poem expresses the emotional and psychological effects of being oppressed and removed from the possibility of self determination due to racism in American society.

The caged bird signifies the African Americans who can't enjoy their life and have no freedom whereas the free bird signifies White american who are free to live their life in their way .The caged bird is not only locked in the cage of rage but its feets are tied and wings are clipped , it cannot fly freely in the sky . Caged bird hardly gets a glance of sky.

The free bird can fly freely in sky and dips its peak in the orange light of sun and says that sky belongs to it. Fat worms are waiting for the free bird in the lawn.

Caged bird sings for its freedom because no one can stop it from doing so. It is logging for freedom. Its song sound like a nightmarish....
