The survival of the variations depends upon the nature of variation, lets understand it with the help of an example of Darwin finches in the Galapagos island there were many birds, they have variety in the size and forms of the beak different species have different kinds of beak so they were better adapted according to their eating habits or food resources such as insects, seeds, nectar. This is a adaptive radiation.

This is called survival of the fittest, those who better adapt, better survive and the recreation of variations is very necessary in a species promotes its survival.
