According to the poet time will destroy everything be it a monument or a statue mad of marble, but he says that the poem that he has written in the memory of the person he is taking about, will last through the ravages of time and will be remembered by anyone who reads his poems. Thus, art , according to the poet is more powerful than monuments and statues.
Hope it helps!!
