Answer:
the structure of a neuron allows it to rapidly transmit nerve impulses to other cells.the axon of many neorons has an outer layer called a mylin sheath... regularly spaced nodes,or gaps,in the myelin sheath allow nerve impulses to skip along the axon very rapidly......

Structure and Function of Nerves:
- The structural and functional unit of a nerve is a NEURON.
- The structure of a single neuron greatly aids in its function.
- Each neuron has a cyton (cell body) and an axon.
- The cyton contains fingerlike projections called DENDRITES. They help in taking of impulses from the adjacent neurons.
- The impules flow through the elongated axons and reach the axon terminal.
- The axon terminals contain a number of terminal buds which synapse with the dendrites of adjacent neurons. This helps in impulse transmission.
Hope It Helps.
