As we go down the group size increases due to which nuclear charge decreases(screening effect).

On moving downa group, the tendency to gain electrons (electronegativity) decreases as the atomic radius increases due to the increase in number of shells. ... Hence it is easy to lose electrons instead of gaining electrons.
