how does the water kept in an earthen pot that is Matka become cool during summer???

the earthen pot has porous wall. the water evaporate from the outer wall of the pot thus making it cool. thus the temperature of water inside the pot falls and it becomes cool.

It is because the earthern pot contains pores on the whole surface so the pores take away from inside which leads to evaporation and we know that evaporation causes cooling...
