Transport of soluble product of photosynthesis or food from leaves to other parts of plants is calledtranslocation. For translocation, food molecules enter the part of the phloem called the sieve tubes where they can be transported upwards or downwards to all parts of the plant including roots.

Translocation in plants:
Translocation is the development of materials from leaves to different tissues all through the plant. Plants produce starches (sugars) in their leaves by photosynthesis, yet non-photosynthetic pieces of the plant likewise require sugars and other natural and nonorganic materials.
Hence, supplements are translocated from sources to sinks (locales where the starch is required).
Some significant sinks are roots, blossoms, natural products, stems, and creating leaves. Leaves are especially intriguing in such manner since they are sinks when they are youthful and moved toward becoming sources later when they are about half developed.
