: The valency of an element depends the availability of an electrons (or electrons) in its valence shell i.e on its valence electrons. Across the period, first it increases from 0 to 4 and then starts decreasing from 4 to 1.

Answer:

Across a period valency first increases and than decreases .

in a group all elements have same valency as they have same number of electrons in the outermost shell
