Well, the intricate interdependence is somewhat like this.

Life as we know it, exists only on the paper thin crust of the earth, i.e. on topsoil. Go up a beyond 30,000 m, nothing lives due to lack of oxygen. Dig down, nothing survives in the molten heat.

On topsoil grows grass & all vegetation, in which live insects, rodents, reptiles. On these feed birds, herbivores, carnivores, up the chain to apex of the pyramid of food chain.

All life returns to dust, or topsoil, in some form eventually, to invigorate the earth. On this survive the grasses & vegetation.

The cycle is complete.

Soil conservation broadly involves prevention of soil degradation either or both due to soil erosion and loss of soil fertility. Loss of fertility could be due to soil contamination/ pollution, over usage, acidification etc. Now, soil erosion is a natural process caused due to a number of factors. However, it has been accelerated due to human influence on a large scale which in almost all the cases involves denuding the land of vegetative cover. This brings us to forest conservation. As large tracts of forest are being cut for various reasons, it has accelerated the rate of soil erosion. Now mostly, forest conservation deals with managing forest resources and their use in a sustainable manner, sustainability defined both in terms of human use and ecosystem. The other consequences of forest loss include loss of habitat of its inhabitants i.e. wildlife. Now, wildlife conservation involves conservation of both flora and fauna and their habitat. One cannot conserve a species if its habitat is not conserved. Deforestation leads to both loss of habitat and fragmentation of habitat in a large landscape that prohibits wildlife movement. Not only terrestrial ecosystems but aquatic ecosystems are also affected due to deforestation or excessive soil erosion. As more and more sediments come into the aquatic systems, it affects the habitat and survival of its inhabitants (wildlife) in long run.
