First of all, it is important to know what membrane biogenesis is.

Membrane biogenesis is the process of formation of plasma membrane with the help of proteins and lipids.

Now, ER or endoplasmic reticulum helps in membrane biogenesis by helping in the formation of lipids,proteins and steroids which are important for it.

In endoplasmic Reticulum there is a type called smooth E.R which helps in building up of cell membrane with the help of proteins and lipids and this is called membrane biogenesis

And E.R helps in membrane biogenesis by helping in forming the proteins and lipids which is important to build up the cell membrane
