↪I am very fortunate and privileged to have had access to quality education, because of my parents who believed in me. As a teacher my mother knew the importance of a good Education for a woman and made sure I had the opportunity to get a good education. I am now rounding up the final year of my Master’s Degree. Having an education has opened many doors of opportunity for me, I have been able to study further, become employed, earn a living , delay marriage until I was ready and also help with my two younger sister’s education.

Unfortunately this is not the case for many girls and women in Africa who are affected by poverty, as they are less likely to be sent to school and more likely to be married off young. For these girls education is not a right but rather a luxury.

, 40% of girls in sub-Saharan Africa are married before the age of 18.That is 2 in every 5 girls. I believe educating girls is rucial in reducing this number. There is an African Proverb that says “Educate a Girl and you educate a village”. Educating girls does not only improve their lives, but also improves the lives of their families and communities.

Being educated has helped me to be economically empowered and inspired me to start a cause to inspire women to rise up and make a difference in their communities. I dream of helping many girls get access to education, so they can fulfill their dreams and be economically empowered. ....
