Electric Resistance is opposition to the flow of charges I.e. electric current.

All the loads like bulb , fan , heater, refrigerator etc... are of some resistance.
Even electric wire has some resistance.

Resistance can be arranged in two methods:-

i) In series

formula for getting resultant resistance in series is - R1 + R2 +R3.......

ii) In parallel

formula for getting resultant resistance in
parallel is -

$\frac {1}{Reff.} = \frac {1}{R1} +\frac {1}{R2}+\frac {1}{R3}.......$
