we know, magnification is the ratio of height of image to height of object.

here it is given that, linear magnification produced by a spherical mirror is + 1/3

e.g., height of image/height of object = 1/3

height of image = 1/3 × height of object

it is clear that, height of image is one third of height of object. it is possible only when mirror is convex mirror. because in case of concave mirror, magnification will be positive and greater than 1 . image formed by mirror is virtual , erect and diminished

the image formed by mirror is shown in ray diagram.
