HOW EXTENSIVE ARE THE EFFECTS OF BEING FILIPINO IN YOUR SELFHOOD?
Answers
hey dude here is ur answer....
You are asking about the effects of being Filipino to my selfhood, but I choose to answer this in this way:
First, being Filipino is a bit not the same as being Tagalog. Being a Filipino, in my opinion, is belonging to a political domain, a nationality if you like to put it that way. On the other hand, being Tagalog is belonging to an ethnic group, which embodies our culture as a people. You see, there are a lot of other ethnic groups in the Philippines, and each ethnic group has its own distinct trait. To summarily put everyone in the Philippines under the label Filipino is an injustice to all these diverse ethnic groups.
Now, how does being a Tagalog affect me as a person?
I sincerely hold on to Tagalog values. Respect to everyone, dignity, honesty, faith in a Supreme Being, humility, moderation when it comes to pleasure or indulgence in material things, love of family, loyalty to friends, strength in times of challenges or persecution, are just some of the values and traits of a Tagalog. Although these are also present in other ethnic groups, we Tagalogs take them to heart. We are like the carabao and the coconut tree. Both of them are blessed with great strength and a bulky physique (well, in the case of a coconut tree, a tall physique), but they both bow to the ground in humility.
Hope this helps you.....

Answer:
You've asked about how being Filipino has affected my sense of self, and I'll respond as follows:
First, being Filipino and being Tagalog is not quite the same thing. Being a Filipino, in my perspective, entails belonging to a political realm—or, if you prefer, a nationality. Being Tagalog, on the other hand, is being a member of ethnicity that represents our people's culture. You know, the Philippines is home to many different ethnic groups, and each one has a unique characteristic. It would be unfair to categorize all the many ethnic groups in the Philippines as Filipino in order to generalize about everyone there.
How does being a Tagalog influence me personally, then?
I firmly adhere to Tagalog principles. Some of the values and characteristics of a Tagalog include respect for all people, dignity, honesty, trust in a Supreme Being, humility, moderation when it comes to pleasure or indulgence in material things, love of family, devotion to friends, and strength in the face of adversity or persecution. We Tagalogs take these to heart, despite the fact that they are also prevalent in other ethnic groups. We resemble both coconut trees and carabaos. Despite the fact that they both have powerful bodies and enormous strength—or, in the case of the coconut tree, a towering physique—they both bow to the ground in humility.
