During the first world war the Russians were defeated badly. The soldiers were unwilling to fight in such a war. The blame fell upon Tsar Nicholas the second due to the living conditions he kept in Russia. So the Russians felt a need for revolution. The war turned Russians against Nicholas the second's governance
