The goal of environmental sustainability is to conserve natural resources and to develop alternate sources of power while reducing pollution and harm to the environment.Environmental sustainability simply means that the activities that we engage in are not overloading the natural feedback loops that the ecology is built upon. This means that we can’t simply regard waste as a one way street away from us, and resources as an unlimited supply. We either have to limit our activities to within natural thresholds, or we have to close the loop ourselves. A ubiquitous example of the latter is the use of sewage treatment plants that accelerate a natural process on an industrial scale in order that high population densities can be achieved.
