Fish live under water nearly all the time. They do not breathe air. Instead, they use their gills to take in oxygen from the water around them. Fish have fins and tails, and many are covered with scales.

Fish do not chew their food the same way we do.

Many carnivorous fishes (meat eating) use their sharp teeth to capture and hold prey while swallowing it whole or in large pieces. We use teeth to grind food into tiny pieces, and then we swallow.
