Flattery is one of the sicknesses which society is suffering from. It misleads people and forces to give incorrect and wrong decisions. The Maharaja in the story "The Tiger King" also had his minions who just tried to show themselves to be obedient and faithful towards him. In reality, they were not. The same condition prevails in the real world. Society and politics are suffering from the same sickness. It not just creates a false impression but also destroys the smooth running of the administration. The people showcasing true face or the only face have been missing in the real world. The administration as well as the people all have turned to be selfish and adopted the method of flattery to achieve their goal.

Answer:

This story is a satire where goes crazy for proving the prophecies of a fortune teller wrong. He goes on a merciless spree of indiscriminately killing tigers and kills ninety nine.

The hundredth one somehow escapes the king’s bullet and eventually the king gets killed by an inanimate tiger made of wood. This proves that he fails to prove the prophecy wrong as he get swept by flattery of his fellowmen and starts considering himself to be god.
