How growth in bone is bidirectional ?

The growth centre of bone and cartilage is called synchondrosis. The movement and mobilization of minerals, protein and calcium which is needed for bone growth takes place in opposite direction resulting in forward and downward enlargement of bones thats why bone growth is considered bidirectional.
