The earliest printing technology was developed from AD 594 on Buddhism’s need to preserve all teaching and maintain a ‘book’ of all thoughts. This involved writing on clay tablets which then led to wood block printing in China and Japan.
In Europe, printing developed with images printed on cloth, playing cards, etc. around the early fifteenth century.
Finally Gutenberg, in Germany designed the movable type printing press in 1439, thereby starting the modern age of printing.
