Answer:

There are two points that the answer need to focus on:

1. Eco tourism

2. Choti Haldwani

Eco tourism refers to tourism that aims to  help conserve the environment by generating funds directly from visitors. Since it is environment based, eco-tourism generally takes place in areas away from the city.

Choti Haldwani is a small village in Uttrakhand, also known as Jim Corbett village. It is the village that the famous hunter, photographer and writer had bought from the government. It is Corbett’s connection with the village that gives it the historical touch.

Today, the village has come together to preserve the heritage of Corbett. Corbett gained the reputation  of being a saviour by saving helpless villagers from man-eating tigers.  His home has been turned into a museum that houses a number of personal articles that were used by him. Similarly, his gun was gifted to his assistant, who later passed it on to his son. The gun, though privately owned, is also showcased to visitors at times.

The eco-tourism activities that attract visitors include a visit to the museum, the village ‘chaupal’ (where village level meetings would be presided over by Corbett), bird-watching, nature trails and hiking, waterfalls as well as staying with the villagers in their homes, to experience their lives and food first hand. Choti Haldwani is fast emerging as a popular spot for eco-tourism.
