It's made nearly-instantaneous communication not only possible, but commonplace. Witness this list. 

It's made communication with a huge pool of contacts, most of them undiscoverable in earlier times, possible and commonplace. 

On-line shopping for one-of-kind items (ie: antiques, celebrity memorabilia, and art-works) now has a much larger market for each item, so pricing better reflects the "world-wide" value for each item, rather than being dependent on the quirks of local/regional/national
