Abdul Kalam describes his mother by saying that she was an ideal wife and a gentle lady. He learnt from his mother to be gentle and kind. She even used to feed many people every day.

His mother's name was Ashiamma. She fed everyday, but Iam quite certain that far more outsiders ate with us than all the members pf our own family put together.
