Land redistribution - In the past large tracts of land were held by Namboothiris, Nairs and Syrian Christians. The government conficated the land and redistributed among the lower castes.

Education - The government established primary and secondary schools all over the state making it nearly 100% literate. This empowered ordinary men and women to make the most of their opportunities.

Distributed and inclusive development - Unlike other parts of India development is spread evenly in the sense that almost every village has a high school, a primary health center, government buses that go to the nearest town and access to an internet connection.
