Right to Equality also envisages the equal protection of law. Backward classes, scheduled caste and scheduled tribes have been socially and economically depressed for centuries in India. The benefit such as reservation is conferred upon them to bring them at par with the other socially and economically well-off classes in India.

Right to equality should be understood as equal protection of equal and unequal protection of unequal.

This will help you understand.

the reservation system is justified. ... Basically, the reason behind reservation is that certain disadvantaged groups get a push to make them competent with the groups that don't have any inherent disadvantage. These not only include backward castes, but also financially backward people.

Hope this helps you mate ✌️✌️✔️✔️
