desertification is defined as the process of land degradation due to various factors.

the human population is increasing day by day and the needs of the people are also gradually increasing. to fulfill the food needs of the people and to provide them with shelter, large areas of forest are brought under cultivation and  for residence this causes desertification.

as these forests get cleared the roots holding the soil gets eroded and is blown by wind water etc. and the soil loses its fertility . rainfall in the place also reduces gradually .this is how humans have caused desertification
