Himalayas protect us from cold central Asian winds. in historical times mountains are the main source for agriculture and for daily use mostly in summer. Himalayas are responsible for re-treating monsoon which helps in ripening of mangoes in south India. peninsular plateau also the source of water in Deccan plateau
