Deccan Plateau was formed due to the Volcanic Eruption in Central India, millions of years back. The lava that got erupted was Basic type of lava i. e. It had less Silica percentage to make it more fluid. So it got spread over almost 70℅ land of South India. Deccan Plateau is one of the oldest landforms on the surface of the Earth. So it has been a weathered landform , mainly by the East flowing rivers, such as, Godavari, Narmada, Tapi, Krishna and river Kaveri in the South. The Plateau extends from Chota nagpur in the North to Mulgi ti in the South and the Western Ghats in the West to the Eastern Ghats in the East.
