The Himalayas act as a boon for India because there is a lot of snow fall in regions like Himalayas which melt at summer and feed river Ganga and Bhramaputra with water and they don't finish in summers. It protects India from very strong cold winds that come from north Asia. There are forests in the Himalayas that provides us timber, medicinal herbs, honey and wax etc.

You may well know that Himalayan hold the highest peak above sea level and every year it grows by micro inch due to Indian tectonic plates crashing with Eurasian .As for as Himalayan is a boon to India because the Himalayan ranges is a geographic fortress wall which protected India from aggressive invasion from magnolia and also from China. Himalayan glaciers provide year around water as rives for the Indian north east region where most irrigation is depending on it .
