At Haridwar, the Ganga emerges from the mountains on to the plains. Its tributaries flood parts of the northern plains every year, causing widespread damage to life and property but enriching the soil for the extensive agricultural lands.

4. every year the flood that occurs ,form flood plains  which are very fertile and suitable for agriculture .

5. it meets with Brahmaputra and makes the largest delta  of the world known as the Sundarban Delta which extend into Bangladesh..
