Inspite of having low per capita consumption of material at just 4.2 tonnes per annum, our total consumption of materials is very high.

Increased consumption in metropolitan centres like Mumbai will definitely put more pressure on smaller cities and villages.

In absence of suitable production facilities, it will create shortage of resources in other parts of India.

Mumbai is one of the largest capital metropolitan city where the population is increasing in a large pace compared to the other places. There in Mumbai the per capita income of the families of the area doesn't have much a huge per capita income. But inspite of this the consumption of Mumbai is extremely large because of the huge population. It largely affect the neighbour village and the cities because from their resources the amount has been cut off to provide the supply to the city. Hence increased consumption in Mumbai affect demand for resources in other parts of India. Hope this answers helps you. Please mark the answer as the brainiest if you like my answer.
