In the school we stood round the flag pole. We were asked to stand class wise. In our Khaki uniform we looked like soldiers ready to sacrifice our lives for the sake of our country. The teachers stood behind us. On our Principal’s request, the founder of the school, who is a sacred saint, came forward to perform the flag-hoisting ceremony. He was in his happy mood. Exactly at eight the flag was hoisted. We stood in attention to give salute to the flag.
After the flag ceremony Jan Gan Man was sung. The scouts’ band played the tune. The flag ceremony came to a close with a few speeches delivered by the staff and the manager. Al the speakers threw light on the importance of the day and our duties towards the country. In the end, the principal asked us to assemble round the field to take part in the school sports. They were held with great enthusiasm. Those who stood first and second in the various sports got prizes from the holy hands of the manager.
In the evening all the students and the teachers assembled in the school hall. We were very glad when the principal announced that each of us would get a packet of sweets. There was a great noise in the hall for about an hour. My class leader asked ten boys and me to stay in the school for illumination. After enjoying the grand illumination in the school we returned home in happy mood.
Conclusion:
Thus we celebrated our Independence Day in our school. This day always remind me of the untold sacrifices of the fighters of freedom. We should worship those patriots who shed their blood for achieving Freedom.

It was a red letter day in the history of India when the country got her freedom on August 15, 1947. It took hundreds of years to us to break shackles of slavery. People of the country celebrate this festival every year with great pomp and show. The main Programme is celebrated at the Red Fort in New Delhi. Besides this festival is also celebrated in every city and town, in schools, colleges and universities.
Our collegealso celebrates this festival every year. For this year we had made all the preparations. In the morning our school NCC cadets marched out in a procession through the main streets of the town with a band playing the National Anthem.
The Principal was the Chief Guest of the Programme. She hoisted the national flag on the college building sharp at 8:00 am. All the students and teachers saluted the flag and then sang the National Anthem. Then followed the Cultural Programme. Patriotic Poems and Songs were recited both by the teachers and the students. Some students also presented the group dance and skits.
