Article 334 of the Indian constitution lays down that 27% of the seats in the two houses of Parliament in the national, state and local level should be reserved for the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and OBCs.
Article 14 of the constitution highlights the right to equality before law. This ensures that there is no special privilege in favour of anyone, that all are equally subject to the ordinary law of the land and that no person, whatever be his rank or condition, is above the law.
