Heya....

Here's your answer....

A conventional dam holds water in a man-made lake, or reservoir, behind it. When water is released through the dam, it spins a turbine connected to a hydroelectric generator. The turbine converts the kinetic energy of falling water into mechanical energy. Then the hydroelectric generator converts the mechanical energy from the turbine into electrical energy. The water returns to the river on the downstream side of the dam.

Thanks...!!!

Usefulness of dams in the production of electricity

Explanation:

Dams are huge man made structures built across rivers to control the flow of water.

Many dams produce hydroelectricity that uses the mechanical energy of flowing water and converts it into electrical energy.

Water stored in dams fall on huge turbines

These turbines start rotating due to the force of water and generate electricity which is then supplied to houses and industries for consumption

Hydroelectricity is a huge energy resource. It is environment friendly, renewable and does not have any harmful effects on the environment
