There are two types of spermatocytes, primary and secondary spermatocytes (Figure 1). ... Primary spermatocytes are diploid (2N) cells. After Meiosis I, two secondary spermatocytes are formed. Secondary spermatocytes are haploid (N) cells that contain half the number of chromosomes.
